Are you awaiting Citizenship and Immigration Canada decision on your
Application to Sponsor Your Parents?


Are you aware that this will take much longer than you expected and even
longer that they promised?

Just few facts:
. According to official CIC website, the last sponsorship application they
processed were submitted on June 24, 2003, and their estimated processing
time is 18-20 months (it was 5-6 months in 2003)
. Processing of sponsorship applications in CPC Mississauga (Case Processing
Centre) stopped last summer (around June 2004) and according to their
statistics they did not process any single case after that day.
. Federal admission quota for parents has been reduced over the years from
19,376 in 2003 to 10,233 in 2004 to a planned 5,500 to 6,800 in 2005

We, group of people who realize that with every passing year the chances to
see our parents here are declining, decided to act upon this problem and we
want to have the Federal Government to fulfill their promise.

What you and we can do?

. Bring our concerns to as many Members of Parliament as we can, so they
will be aware of the problem (and their voters' opinion about it) when this
will be discussed in the House of the Commons
. Draw attention of the House of Commons to the problem and ask the
Parliament to increase quotas for parental sponsorship admissions and reduce
processing time of sponsorship applications.
