Default working on project abroad

Andrew / Jim :

Heres my scenario:

I am landing next week in Toronto and have been offered employment
by a prominent Canadian Software Consulting Company based in
downtown Toronto.

They need me to work for them at various international locations
on and off.

How will this effect my PR status?

Will the days out of the country but working for a Canadian Company
and receiving a salary / paying taxes in Canada suffice the PR
requirements or should I not take this offer and stay put in Toronto
for the next 3 years ??

Thanks

Y!

It should not affect your PR status as long as you maintain an Employer/
Employee relationship. It will affect your citizenship however.

As long as you'll be working for Toronto based company, will be paid in
Canada and travel only for temporary assignments then you'll be fine as far
as PR status goes. But such absences won't count towards citizenship - so,
if you want to get citizenship then you need to be in Canada for 3 years
(1,095 days) out of 4 years preceding citizenship application.
