Default When should the applicant make a request for the application status?

The Service Standards of the RPC in Buffalo state "The RPC will advise
you of the assessment of your application within 20 weeks from the
Acknowledgement of Receipt letter." The application with the ROLF was
submitted in April 2002. The AOR letter was received in August 2002.
The 20 weeks have already elapsed. How long should the applicant hold
on there before request for the processing info? Thanks.

Please read again and carefully what Buffalo's website says:

http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/can-am/...at=68&did=1335

20 weeks period applies to file creation and mailing out AOR letter, not to
assessment. As you can read in "Step 3" assessment will take place within 1
year - as usually it applies to majority of straightforward cases. There are
still applicants with more complex cases who applied in April 2002 and
didn't receive assessment notice yet.

Regardless all of the above now would be a good time to fax status request
to Buffalo anyway.
