Hello there,

I am certainly not an expert but my understanding is as follows:
You're baby will have it's birth registered in Australia and will have
an Australian birth certificate.

If you are on a 457 (or any temporary visa) when the baby is born the
baby is not eligible for Australian citizenship.

However, your baby will be eligible for British citizenship (because you
are British) and I guess you will need to contact the British High
Commission in Canberra to register the birth etc...
Here is their website (nationality/registrations page):
http://bhc.britaus.net/Passports/passportsdefault.asp?id

I'm sure if you contact then they will give you the info you need.

Good luck!
