Default What Name On Air Tickets???????

K1 visa holder marries, files for AOS, and gets AP, then buys air
tickets to visit home. K1 visa holder's foreign passport is issued in
her maiden name.
What name should air tickets be in:
1. Married name
which is name AOS is filed in and name in which AP was issued?
2.
Maiden name on foreign passport?
What is best way to do this?

At a guess, she may wish to apply for a new passport here at a consulate,
or when she's there.

I suspect married name is by far safer. Bring a copy (certified, if you
have one) of the marriage certificate to back you up. This is just a
guess, but an educated one.

Actually, I was told the tickets should be in the name on the passport.

I have traveled in that situation.

My airline ticket was in my married
name,
My passport (of course) still in my maiden name,
and I carried a
copy of marriage certificate.

The first one to ask me for proof, was
the lady at bagage check in!
That amazed me, because I hadn't expected
to have to show the marriage certificate until customs...
Anyway, it
proofs that airline personnel knows situations like this occur, and know
how to handle it.

The ticket should always have the same name as the passport to avoid
trouble with the airlines.
I go by this rule and it has worked for me.
It's good to have your marriage certificate and a Drivers License with
your new name with you.

Yes, you can do that.
On the other hand, my husband and I chose to
document all our petitions with 'proof' of things we did together.
Tickets in your maiden name just don't cut it in that case *S*

It is my understanding that the name on your passport must always
match your tickets.

Otherwise you put yourself in the hands of airline staff......

I would suggest making sure the name on the ticket EXACTLY matches
the name on the passport. Even if it's not her current official
name, you can be sure the airline won't have a problem letting her
use that ticket. If you want to do otherwise, then before buying
the ticket, at least check with the airline and/or airport security
to make sure she'll be allowed on the plane.

Why would tickets in your maiden name not "cut it"?
USCIS is going to know your maiden name.

Speaking as a travel agent, your ID and the
name on the ticket should match. If traveling internationally and the
maiden name is the one on the passport then the ticket should reflect
the maiden name.
