Default What is an easiest way to get citizenship in Canada - I am a US citizen.

I like Montreal much and the people there are wonderful. Was mentioned
to me to just get a visa to Canada and work it from there is what
Liberians had told me living in Quebec. I love Candian people much and
loved visiting there.

To become a citizen first you need
to become a Permanent resident, then after three years apply for
citizenship, but if you just want to live and work in Canada I dont
think citizenship is really what you are looking for, Really you are
looking for either a work permit (temporary authorization), or permanent
residency.

As a US citizen, some occupations can get work permits under
NAFTA rules as business visitors, which can be a little easier as CIC do
not have to approve the job offer as I understand it.

Other alternative
is to apply for PR...lots of ways to do this, if you have a US degree or
equivalent then skilled worker or provincial nomination program would be
an option. See the cic websire for options and self asssesment.

Canada has 9% unemployement rate with high taxes and low salaries.
Not to mention 26 week wait times for surgeries on taxpayer funded
"health care system"
If you wanna be a loser rest of your life, good luck!

Another rumors spread by misinformed idiots.

Facts are:

- Canadian taxes are lower than in 10 most taxed US states, although
they are higher than in 10 least taxed US states.

- Cost of living is much lower in Canada compared to similar locations
in US, thus "lower" salaries are usually providing for higher life
style than in US

- Such long wait is only for elective surgeries, something that
doesn't need to be done unless patient really wants it for some
reason. All necessary and emergency surgeries are done without any
wait.

Another freaking "American" wannabe who have no idea about reality.

Or you can stay in the USA with a power mad megalomaniac at
the wheel of a country with probably the highest gun related death rate
in the world, with a second class education system, and healthcare only
for those who can afford it.

Hmmm, glad its not a choice I have to
make. BTW you are not "the helper" back in a new guise are you?

For
the record the unemployment rate is ~7.5%, but this does not take into
account differences in the way the rate is calculated. If done the US
way, this is nearer to 7%, plus the US does not count the vast numbers
of disenfranchised welfare recipients who fall out of the system every
year.

I believe you are right.
And it is a myth that in the US because of privatised health care, there are
no wait times.
After all, you can just throw money at their face and get what you want,
right ?
Actually, no.

From personal experience, as well as experience of people I know very well,
this is not true.
Even in the best of hospitals people in the emergency room are made to wait
for several hours before a doctor visits them.
This is true even when you have the best, most comprehensive insurance
policies like BlueCross.

For people without insurance or with less than enough insurance, a simple
hospital visit is more expensive than buying a new waterfront house in Palm
Beach !

It can be quite cynical. By making you wait until after midnight they
collect another day's charges. My mother was not allowed to die until after
midnight (i.e., they wouldn't declare her dead until then) so they collected
another day's fees.

It didn't seem to embarrass them that her grandson, a brain surgeon, was
sitting by her and was quite aware she had died. He was not on staff at that
hospital and was not authorised to make the decision, least of all on a
relative.

My condolences on your mother's passing away.

Indeed it is shameful the way patients are treated.
And then they have the cheek to spread the myth that privatised health care
is the best way to go !
The US health care system is a great example of how *not* to run health care
in a free, democratic country.
