Default what is 2 yrs full time study ?? Expers advice please

Hi There,

Good Day,

We are international student and studying at Melbourne. Actually
since we have landed in Australia there is a confusion related to the
defination of 2 yrs study. And in this regards we have met couple of
lawyer but we didn't get any satisfactory reply.

Our queries are :

1) Does 2 yrs full time study means 2 academic year irrespective of
number of units studied in the course ?

2) Our course is of 1.5 yrs and in each unit we have to do 4 units. As
per our university/dimia requirement every international student has
to enroll in 3 units per semester. If we extend our 1.5yrs course to 2
yrs by taking 3 units in each semester then will it be acceptable ?

3) If someone becomes part time student in the final semester by some
reason ,means if a student take 4 units in the first 2 semester and 3
in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th semester, then will it be also be
accepatble ?

Just to tell you that our university has no problem in giving the
letter mentioning that we were full time student for the period of our
study as we are meeting our student visa requiremeny in all the
scenarios.

So you are requested to answer these queries so that we can prepare
our case accordingly.

Thanks in anticipation,

Regards

Since Universities and schools in Australia regularly use the term - FTE -
meaning full time equivalent - for tallying student numbers and various
other statistical purposes I'd assume that's what they mean. Your course
would appear to require 1.5 years of full time study - as you yourself
indicate!!!!

However long the period of time for which you choose to study the course is
surely irrelevant. It's a 1.5 year course!!!

Thanks Mate for the replying but I found your reply was not
satisfactory actually couple of days back few students went to DIMIA
to ask the same queries and they were told that extension of 1.5 yrs
course to 2 yrs, the way i explained, is acceptable. But we dont have
any written proof about that.

So i posted these queries on the forum to get some advice from the
experts who are lawyers or deals in immigration.

So,if ne body out there can reply to my queries please do so.

thanks

If the previous answer is "not satisfactory" could I suggest that you go
and pay a lawyer or immigration agent for their respinse, Or better
still go to DIMIA, as it is them that gave the oreiginal respinse which
you are looking to replicate.
