Default Wedding in 6 months and no news from Nebraska

Hi, first time using a newsgroup so not sure if this will even work!!!

My wedding is in 6 months (July), I am from Scotland and my fiancee from
Oregon. Wedding is in Portland. My 129f forms were received in the Nebraska
centre on 6th October 2003 and I still have not heard anything about it.
Does anyone know of a way it can be speeded up or should the wedding be
moved to a later date?

Hi Kevin

It will be a close call, IMHO. It's best not to make any definite
plans until you have the visa in-hand. You could receive an RFE and
things can get postponed, the service center could slow way down, any
number of things can (and do) happen that we have no control over....

Best Wishes!

Rene

Welcome to the K1 club, Kevin. As Noorah stated, it would most likely be
best to postpone the wedding date. You never know if you might get a
Request for more Evidence (RFE), or they might even slow down on
processing. If you want to have a definite date for the wedding, you may
want to chose a date in Sept/Oct. - that would give you more leeway if
something slows you guys down. We didn't pick an actual date until we
had our Notice of Approval from Texas, which we just got 2 weeks ago.
TSC is also very slow, so I understand what you guys are going through.
Just in case your're interested, I'll post our timeline below.

Btw, my fiance is also from Scotland. He lives just outside Glasgow.
Where abouts are you from if you don't mind my asking?

Cheers,

Jamie

PS. Try to relax, the approval will get here before you know it!

Our K1 timeline

08/06/2003 - Posted I-129f to TSC

08/08/2003 - I129f arrived at TSC

08/14/2003 - Money Order cashed

the website (not an NOA)

12/02/2003 - Sent off for UK Police Certificate

12/15/2003 - Had BCIS do an inquiry as to why our receipt number does
not work online or the phone system (for the 2nd time)

12/17/2003 - Rec'd Scottish Police Certificate in the post. Still
waiting for the UK-wide Certificate

12/23/2003 - Rec'd letter from New Scotland Yard that there is a problem
with Scott's records

01/02/2004 - NOA2 online (day 143)

01/07/2004 - NVC received file

01/07/2004 - Applied for South African Police Certificate

UK Police Certificate

01/12/2004 - Receive correct Police Certificate from New Scotland Yard

If you go to the USCIS website you can check how the processing is
moving along:
https://egov.immigration.gov/graphic...sps/index.jsp#

According to the website (which is of course just an estimate), Nebraska
is processing forms from July 21st 2003 (as of January 7th), so that
means you probably have another 2-3 months until you'd get approved
(unless there's any complications of course). From there on your forms
will be sent to the NVC for security checks, which varies greatly
depending on the person. Then you're probably looking at another month
until the interview. Of course this is just very vague estimate, but in
other words if you want to make sure you have a nicely organized wedding
you may want to postpone the date *just in case*.

Hi Kevin,

We filed our I129F on March 7, 2003 and received our 2NOA on September
26, 2003 (204 days) I think? Our file was approved by the NVC on
October 10, 2003 and reached the Consulate Abroad (Ukraine, Kyiv) on
October 17, 2003. We could have pushed for a quicker interview date but
we got "our" K-1 on December 10, 2003. To make a long story short, I
leave in 9 days (Jan 30, 04) and return (Feb 9, 04) with my fiance'e.
What long...... strange trip it's been..... April 17, 2004 wedding
planned! Best of LUCK..

Kevin - just a suggestion - read the FAQ's at the top of the
newsgroup web site.

IMHO = in my humble opinion

RFE = referal for evidence (in general, when the USCIS/service center
wants you to supply more info, missing info correct info, etc, for your
application

Best not to make ANY plan (moving, selling, quitting job, ANY plan)
until the vis has been granted.

Best of luck!
