Default visiting while in application process

Hello, and thanks in advace for any answers. I am a born canadian cit. I
will be getting married in Sept. to a man from Ireland (gotta love internet
romances!) I can not sponsor him at this time because I am no able to
support him financially, however he has 73 points for entering, and can
apply under the skilled worker. my question is this...since this process
may take a long time, can he come for visits while in the application
process...I mean I don't see why not, but thought it would be good to ask.
I'm not talking months or anything, but a week or two every few months kind
of thing until his app is processed....also, because we will be married,
will that help or speed up the process? (hopeful, but realistic).
Thanks much,
Jenavive

Don't have him apply as a skilled worker, as he probably looking at up to 2
years to process his application. You can sponsor him, as a spousal
applicant you don't have to meet the LICO, but you have to supply your
financial details with your sponsorship. The only way that you would be
barred is if you are collecting welfare for non-disability or have sponsored
a spouse in the last 3 years.

A spousal application should take around 6 months or so, unless he has lived
in other countries.

Hi Jenavive. Unless you are on welfare you can sponsor your husband. There
is no minimum income for sponsoring him. It will take up to 2 years maybe
more until he gets PR in skilled worker, where if you sponsored him from
abroad it will be much quicker. Some people on here are reporting 4 months.
So he could be here with you within a year. Also too the Skilled worker is
much more difficult than the spousal sponsorship.

just in case you haven't already checked this out, look at that CIC website
www.cic.gc.ca

It will be much faster I believe if you sponsor him as a spouse once
you are married. My husband is a US citizen and we married then I
filed an application - it took a total of 4 month from submission to
completion - PR card in his hand :)

He stayed in the States while
the application was being processed and visited about every 2 weeks
without a problem.

Once you are married there is not financial
requirement.

cheers
