Default Visa help

My name is annette i am 52 and my husband is 50 he has been a roofer for
25 years we are looking at moving to perth and are trying to get help
with the type of visa and that.
I was told that a contributory parent visa was the way but this is
30,000 pound and apparently another 14000 pound is held in social
security.
My son is a citizen and MY daughter, son in law and grandson are on a
temporary visa.
I am not getting much joy finding anyone to help as the 1 i did find
told me that my stepkids from marriages i was divorced from 10 years ago
where my stepson then has a mum and dad and is counted as my son i find
this hard to believe.
I really want to get the ball rolling and dont really know where to
start. Would my husband be able to find work at his age ? would we get a
mortgage at our age too ?
Thanks any help appreciated

Just a brief view, you should have a positive balance of family (could
be an issue unless daughter can get PR)! So (i think) contributory
parent visa could be a way forward! One of the agents will probably have
a better idea!

If stepchildren are in the picture then get professional advice on the
balance of family test from an agent who understands this well (not all
agents do). If you want a UK based agent, then try Ian Harrop :

Hi Annette,

JAJ is right in that the balance of family test is not always accurately
interpreted. In your case, the step- child issue you mentioned above
should not be a problem unless you have been awarded legal guardianship
or custody (or similar) of the child and the child is under 18- in which
case the matter would be more complicated. Of course, there are other
factors to take into consideration for either of the parent visas. For
an assessment that is specific to your situation, feel free to contact
me at carres[at]optusnet[dot]com[dot]au.

Hi Annette,

The balance of family test means that you should have equal or greater
number of children living in Australia; as to step children, the ones
from past marriages are not considered as such, this is as long as the
biological parent is no longer your spouse:

"...a child of the parent who is not the natural or adopted child of the
parent but who is the natural or adopted child of the parent¢â¬â¢s
current spouse..."

The above is an extract of the Migration Regulation 1994 as amended.

Kind regards
Andre

Addendum: Unfortunately, cannot help you as far as finding work in WA, I
am from Sydney
