Default Visa Granted despite potential medical issues

Hi

This is my first thread on here so please be gentle.

Today we were granted our post-July Australian Sponsored Visa 138 (our
timeframe is on timeline website). Yippee!!!

I have used this forum a lot over the last few months to obtain as
much info as possible to help with our visa application. I didnt
use an agent.

I just want to mention a couple of potential problems we faced on
applying for our visa, in the hope that it may be useful to others in
similar situations.

Firstly, my husband has 3 children from his first marriage and an ex-
wife from hell. So obtaining medicals for the children (all under 16
years old) or even a statutory declaration from the ex-wife refusing the
medicals was a no-hoper. I included a copy of the letter I had sent by
registered post to the ex-wife requesting the medicals, and proof of
postage, to my CO, as well as a statement (not a statutory declaration)
from me explaining the steps I had taken to obtain these medicals and
that if, in the future, the children wanted to come to Australia they
would need to meet medical and visa requirements at that time. This
was enough.

Secondly, my husband suffers from a mental illness. This means he
requires medication. Fortunately he still has very good qualifications
and a solid work history behind him. The only difference this made to
his medical was that he needed to obtain a psychiatrists report. It
didnt even delay the visa application.

So, anybody out there who thinks they have no chance because of either
of the two issues outlined above, think again! Its worth a go.
Good luck.
