Default Visa (credit card variety!)

evening all!
i have been trying desperately to pay my agent in oz fees to get the
ball shifting. i faxed through details as they asked for but three times
my card has been 'referred for authorisation' and not processed! the
funds are there, i checked, and card issuer just said it was cos for a
large amount to a foreign country. The only thing i can think of is
that on form i faxed to them whilst it asked for card number, expiry
date etc it did not ask for the 3 digit security number from the back of
the card. has anyone else had this problem? i am starting to
get a bit paranoid! waiting up to ring them shortly.

I had this problem, I rang the credit card company and told them that x
amount should be coming out and they still refused it That was
with Mastercard.

In the end I used a different card, but a Visa one which went through
no trouble.

it happened to me in the past on several occasions. the problem is
very common with both visa and mastercard. try to use american express
if you can. otherwise, call your credit card company and insit they
remove any restrictions on use the card abroad. you may want to call
your agent and ask him to process the payment while you are on the
phone. if they are still problems, call your credit card company right
after, and ask if they "see" the charge they have just blocked, ask to
remove the "freeze" and call your agent again right after.

Yep - pre-warn them about not only your agents fees - but also when the
application fees will be coming out.
