Default Visa Class 820 question

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me with a very specific question on Visa
Class 820 (spouse)

I applied onshore for this visa in May 2004 and it was granted in August
2004. Since the visa was granted I have returned to the UK (mainly as I
found it really tough to find work on a temp visa).

I know I have to get back to Oz to be granted a perm visa (and I hope
perm res visa = decent job!!! maybe I am asking too much!)

Anyhow cutting out the waffle does anyone know when I should aim
to be back?

On the grant letter from DIMIA they state I should tell them of any
travel from March 2006 onwards, do I use this as my date of return? Or
how about the date I applied, May or the date of grant??? So
confused!!

To add to my confusion hubba is to be best man at his brothers wedding
(in the US in May 2006) can I go or is this cutting things too close to
the line (wish I knew where the line was!)

Also have heard horror stories of airlines refusing to carry people with
a short time left on their visas - urban myth or fact?

Hi Lou,

Getting an 820 doesn't mean you need to stay in Australia, however you
do need to be here for the visa grant of your permanent visa, the 801.
The reason they want to know your movements in 2006 is because they need
to write to you about the second stage (801) processing. A good plan
might be to return here after your brother in law's wedding. You should
note that you'll be asked for two form 888s at the second stage of
processing, hope you've got some Australian, or Australian PR, friends
who can confirm your relationship.

I'm sure that visa angels Michelle and Pollyanna will be spotting your
post and providing practical advice about the second stage...

Cheers,

George Lombard

Hi,
Deputy Visa Angel Polly here (thanks George!!)
Is your husband back in the UK with you? I assume so, but it doesn't say
in your post, just that YOU went back. If he is still in Australia, you
will need to be ready to explain why you have lived apart, and how you
have kept the relationship going.
At present the date of application is the date that they look at when
processing your PR, ie May 2006, but as George says they will need to
contact you so make sure they know where you are at all times,
especially if you are outside of Australia.
Sorry to hear you had problems getting work; I've been very lucky and
had jobs since arriving on a Pros Spouse Visa. Only problem I have now
is that my employers - the Govt - want to offer me a permanent contract
but can't until I get PR.

Give us a yell if you have any more queries :)
