Gee this is something my 14 year old son can do and has been doing now
for the past few months.

What is needed here people is a simple video card with a TV in and a
TV out. First card that come to mind is a ATI Rage Fury Pro, Yes this
is an older 32mb card but works just fine.

Next Capture the film from your vhs , beta or camera to the card using
the AIT built in program.

Next convert the avi to svcd or vcd using TMPGEnc Plus 30 day trial
period. Please remember that using a regular cd you will get 80min.
of play back time. Cost for a stack of 50. 23$

Now you have a vcd or svcd that will play in your favorite dvd player,
well most of them will play svcd format. But before burning them to
cd you might want to chapter it at ever 6-8 or 10 minute mart. Easy
done with another FREE program Using VCD Easy.

I would say different people have different skills and needs. There are people who can/love to to
this by their own, but there still are good many of people who don't have the skill/time or just
want someone else to do it for them for a piece of affordable fee. Each business has its own group
of customers.

Hey, Gee if you call that a rip off then according to your theory
consultants over here the worst rippers of all: As, you need at least a
computer and some equipment to do the DVD conversion, and this case all you
have to do is some reading and research, and fill out papers on your own,
why pay thousands of dollars!

Just imagine, if everybody could do everything for themself, there would
be no service industry. Why pay $20 for a nice steak at a restaurant
when you could buy one from Safeway and get your 14-year old son to cook
it for you?
