Default Vetassess - how long?

Hi, this is my first post. I have been following the site for a while
and have gained lots of valuable info - thanks guys. Which means that
we have now got to the stage where we have a positive skills assessment
back from IEAUST and 60 point occupation, yippee. But I'm still waiting
for my assessment back from Vetassess before submitting visa
application. I need positive assessment for Office Manager in order to
provide 5 points as spouse. How long does it take? I know the web site
says 6 weeks. But from reading this forum I know it can take longer.
I've been waiting 8 weeks now. Applied on-line on 8th May. Log on
every day (sometimes twice a day) to check the application status.
Scroll down the screen and there it is 'Active'. Just hope it changes
to 'Positive' and I don't get asked to supply more info, or get refused.
Is anyone else still waiting?

Ours took 11 weeks and 1 day. Have you checked on austimeline to see
what the wait is looking like at the moment?

Cheers

Hi Lou, yes I have checked austimeline, suppose I was hoping people had
forgotten to update their timelines and it wouldn't really take that
long. Suppose it'll give me more time to fill out all the forms .....
just in case. Did you apply on-line? Cheers.

Hi Guys

My vetassess took 20 days but I gather the normal time is 3 weeks
and I used an agent (ist contact) who were really thorough re what
was required.

Good luck

Sue

Hi

We used an agent and they applied online. They were taking ages with
everybodies. Hopefully they may have got faster since then.

Hi
Sorry to jump on your thread, but I am puting together my docs for
VETASSESS. Just out of interest who did you get to certify your docs?
I have read conflicting information on these boards about who can
certify docs - but DIMA state notaries, solictiors etc only. However we
know teachers who would do it for free but not sure if you can use them.

Any ideas - or does anyone else know?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

You can only use Solicitor or justice of the peace (Magistrate) really,
you have a wider choice in Oz but not in UK.

up for you.

Hi Digigriff, there are lots of threads on the forum about this and must
admit I must have searched/read all of them. Tried the local
magistrates court as its next door to where I work. Someone on the
forum managed to get their docs signed for £5 in total put my local
court wanted £5 per doc!! So tried notary, only one listed in my area
who said they didn't provide the service. Finally decided to try a
local solicitor expecting this to be the most expensive option.
Although the receptionist quoted me £2 per doc the solicitor I spoke to
said she would do the whole lot for £20 - brilliant. Unfortunately,
although I had researched everything, missed the fact that the docs were
stamped with the office stamp and did not include the signature and name
of the actual solicitor so had to have them done again - for a box of
chocolates.

Here's the link to what Vetassess say about certified documents:

http://www.vetassess.com.au/index.cfm?menu=1.1#Quest5

Also take a look at their requirement to provide GST exemption evidence.
I provided a letter from solicitor stating that I was resident in UK
when applying for assessment.

Still waiting .........

Best of luck. x

Thanks so much...we also know a magistrate whos wife has offered his
services (!) don't know him very well (or at all really) so feel a bit
odd about asking but think I will now!

Best of luck with the waiting - hope it speeds up. Will be watching
your progress with interest.
