Default US visa for my Indian mother

Hi,

I am an Indian citizen who has recently arrived in the US on a G-4
visa based on my marriage to a UN employee who is stationed in the US
(he has German citizenship).

My mother would like to come to visit us here. I am wondering whether
she is likely to have any trouble getting a US visitor visa.

I know that she has to show that she has strong ties to India (or she
will be rejected under Section 214(b) of the Immigration and
Nationality Act (INA), which says "Every alien shall be presumed to be
an immigrant until he establishes to the satisfaction of the consular
officer, at the time of application for admission, that he is entitled
to a nonimmigrant status...").

My family have an appartment in Mumbai, they live comfortably with no
money problems, my father will still be in India when she plans to
visit me. Given that I have only just arrived in the US myself, and
given the above details, what are her chances of a successful US
visitor visa application?

Thanks,

Uma

Indians don't marry non Indians. This is obviously a troll.

Uma, This is a difficult question for anyone exept the consulate to
answer. The fact is that the majority of the time visitor visas are
rejected. You seem to be aware of the factors necessary for a visa to be
issued. I don't think your just having arrived would be a specific
problem though. Most of the burden is on her to show she will return. It
certainly helps that her husband is staying behind. No-one can answer
your question, but to improve your case, you might look at this site:

There is also a good thread in their forum discussing reasons visitor
visas are rejected in India:

Ask UN if they will write a cover letter in support of a visitor visa
for your mother.

Uma,

If your mother is over 55 it should not be difficult at all to get a
Visitor Visa also if you she is getting the Visa alone and not your
father it should not be difficult to get Visa. I know a lot of
parents who got a Visa with no problems
