Absolutely correct. Sometimes it's necessary to drive a point home with a
ludicrous example. The mere suggestion that this was indicative of all
Americans is so preposterous that no-one would ever believe it. Still, some
people find no problem in believing that the overwhelming majority of
Muslims are evil because their faith tells them to be.
Never underestimate the power of ignorance and fear. Combine this with some
good old propaganda, scapegoating, and the inability to see an obvious cause
and effect, and the picture become so blurry that all commonsense vanishes.
