US citizen getting working holiday visa for Australia..?

hi all,

a friend of mine who's a US citizen would like to take a working
holiday in Australia.. you know, 12 months in the country, with a few
of those months working. Are there such opportunities for US citizens
(under 30)?

Hi Brendan,

It used to be possible to get a WHV from the US if you made a good
submission but these days you have to go under more organised programs such
as BUNAC. Go to the Australian Embassy Washington website and nose
around...

The other way, which works for some US citizens, is to discover that
they are eligible for citizenship of a WHV-eligible country (eg Canada,
UK, Ireland, Italy ... )
