Default Urgent Mr. Miller Please.

Hello Mr. Miller:

I have been seeing someone for well over a
year. He lives in India and received a visa through the temple as he is
a preacher. He has come 3 times to Vancouver, BC. My question is that we
would like to get married. However, should we get married now before he
has to go, which is March 14th or should we wait the next time he comes
back, which will be in about 6 months? I would rather get married in
Canada than have to go to India. However, at this point he would have to
go back to India. Is it easier to marry now to speed up the immigration
process. We would have a court marriage at first and then have an actual
ceremony when he comes next time. I'm sure he'll have no problem in
obtaining another visitors visa as his track record is good. He has
returned to India on time the previous two times.

We are very time
limited here and he had just proposed to me last week. Someone had told
me that he may have difficulty in obtaining a visitors visa if Canadian
Ambassy knows he has been sponsored...is this true??

I would
appreciate your guidance in this matter.

Thank you

Regards,

NB

His previous record may give him some benefit, but not a lot. Once you are
married he must disclose that fact next time he applies for visa and he may
not get it. More - not disclosing information like having a spouse in Canada
and/or being sponsored or about to be sponsored when applying for visitor
visa or at the port of entry for admission to Canada will constitute an
offence under Immigration and Refugee Protection Act:

http://www.canlii.org/ca/sta/i-2.5/sec127.html

and is punishable as follows:

http://www.canlii.org/ca/sta/i-2.5/sec128.html

Make alternate plans just in case he is refused visa or admission.
