I would just like a simple explanation from those who have done
this....or been in a similar predicament!

I'm American.
He's British.
I
came to the UK in September, 2002 on a student visa. That fell through
eventually, and I ran out of money to be able to continue.
I worked
under my student visa terms (20hrs week term time/40 holiday time).
We
were married in October, 2003.
I have recently taken up full-time
employment but have not applied for my UK spouse visa as it costs lots
and we are planning on moving back to the US at the beginning of April,
anyway.
What do I need to apply for? I want him to be able to work as
soon as possible. Can I apply while we're here and get it all taken
care of before we leave (and where can I send it to?), or should he
enter the US on the normal visa-waiver programme and change everything
once we get there?
I would really like to have things sorted before we
leave.
