in UK, South African citizen, applying for Oz136 - which office?
hi,
I will be a British National shortly, after 7 years in UK, in shortage
occupation, but am also on my way to Oz, applying for 136 MODL list visa
from the UK.
I am South African at the moment, so question is: Which office will
process my application, does it go through the same office as UK
applications? Or will my application take longer?
I will have to do Ielts, which I will do in good time, etc. So all will
be in place, but will it take longer just because it goed through
another office, or am I daft.
Thanks

Hi Bianca
I am a South African living in Ireland for the last 4 years. Just had a
CO assigned - applied in June 2006 (non modl 136 but just changed to
modl since CO assigned).
I did not worry about the office processing. Took 6 months to CO so I
don't think it makes a difference.
Also IELTS is at the discretion of the CO. When I applied I sent copies
of my Senior Cert. and Degree showing my schooling was in English and
that my 1st language was English. The CO confirmed she did NOT require
me to do the test. I had the test booked as well just incase but
cancelled it.
I front loaded PCC but not medicals. Medicals have been requested and
should be ready in the next week or so to send.
Hope that helps.
Peter

You go to the same processing region as uk citizens if you are resident
in the uk.The processing times though are about the same

Re: in UK, South African citizen, applying for Oz136 - which office?
Hi Peter,
We are currently livingin Oz in 457visa, we applied for 136MODL in Oct 2006,
my husband is the main applicant (British Citizen), I am a house-wife(South
African Citizen). I have also supplied copies of school certificates and
letters hoping that they will see that I was educated in English and that
English is my first language. I have also booked an IELTS for myself and
really hope I can cancel. We lived in SA before moving over to OZ, what
region do you think we will fall under, UK, SA or OZ?
Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks
Brissie

All applications for an Australian skilled visa are processed in
Adelaide, irrespective of your country/ies of current
nationality/citizenship.

Hi,
Yes I know that all the applications are done in Adelaide, but I have heard
that certain regions, are categorised and then assessed. I have noticed that
people from the UK fall into Region 3.
