Hi,

I have just received instructions for getting UK police clearance. I
am not currently in UK and am not planning to be for any reason in the
next few months. The form clearly states that original ID proof
documents must be sent verifying name, date of birth, address.

I can send utility bills showing my address in USA, but as for
something showing my DOB the only things are my passport and drivers
liscence, and I can't send those!

Will certified copies do?
How did anyone in similar situation handle this?

Im not sure if this will help you but my husband applied for his police
clearance from Ontario and he didn't send any proof of ID at all. He sent
it to the local constabulary in Nottingham. They then sent it to Scotland
Yard. It was returned with no problem approx 45 days later. He also says
that each police force may do it differently. So if he didn't have to
sent any supporting docs at all then maybe photo copies will do. Best bet
would be to call them and ask.

If you're sending from outside the UK send certified copies. I've just
had this saga with them. NSY also told me that it's currently taking
the full 40 days to process.



They won't accept non certified copies and it must be ID with your
date of birth.
