Re: UK Citizen to Marry US Citizen in US then Live in UK
Dear Marcus
You do not need a fiance visa to get married in the United States if you are going back to the UK afterwards. You can stay in the United States under the visa waiver program after getting married in the United States very easily in New York state, or in Las Vegas.
My husband and I were recently married in Niagra Falls New York and he did not have a visa. You can come on the visa waiver for three months.
You do not require to show proof of any such spouse visa when you get married (I phoned the marriage places to ask them).
To get married in America you need to find a minister or church that will marry you. Have proof of your birth certificate, also must have your identification, such as drivers licence and passport.
My husband and I were married in New York. We had a 24 hour wait period before we got married. He then had to leave and I am now applying for my spouse visa to come to the United Kingdom. (he had to leave because he only had two weeks holiday.)
Keep in touch,
good luck,
Nicole Spence
