Default Travel outside of Canada after Landing

Hi,

I am currently working in Europe and planning to migrate to Canada in
June timeframe. My medical happened in first week of August 2004, so I
have to land in Canada before that.

My question is that my contract does not get over until Mid July.

Can I land in Canada and stay there for a week and get the PR card sent
to my friend's residence. I will only return to Canada after the card
has been fedexed to me by my friend. Or can I apply for a PR Card
outside Canada.

The CIC Canada site says that "Permanent residents seeking to return to
Canada who are without a permanent resident card may contact the
nearest Canadian visa office to obtain a limited use travel document to
re-enter Canada at a cost of $50 for each one."

Would appreciate your responses.

Regards,
Ash

Hi,

You can absolutely have your PR card sent to your friends address...
you would simply do an address change. It does however take 30 days
plus mailing time to receive your PR card.

It is your choice to have your PR card fedexed to you (be aware of the
risk of it not arriving to you, and if it does not then you will have
to reapply once you return to Canada)... NO you cannot apply for the
PR card outside Canada. It is automatically done once you land in
Canada at the POE (point of entry)

As per the CIC site... if you should be outside Canada and you do not
have your PR card on hand to be allowed entry into Canada you will have
to contact the embassy to obtain a travel document which is $50 and
valid for one entry only.

Hope this helps.

I am not an immigration consultant yet but I do have the knowledge to
provide you with the correct answer.

Wrong again!!!

Anderson, you need to read and understand the question first.

Poster didn't land yet. Address for PR Card is being provided during
landing process (when application for PR Card is completed) or can be
provided within 180 days from landing.

There is no freaking "address change" needed - poster will provide
friend's address for PR card mailing during landing process. That is
all.

You still need to learn a lot Anderson and I'm now sure that you are
one of those who always give different answers to the same question we
call CIC every time...

Hello Mario --

It appears here that you are giving immigration advice, which may or
may not be wrong.

If we use your own standards, I'm afraid that you will have to provide
a list of your qualifications. I don't see anyone named Mario on a
list of immigration consultants. Would you care to point it out for
us?

No Anderson, I don't provide any advice here. I simply report my own
experience from landing process and info I received during that
process.

Fact that you are changing names and using different suckpuppets,
your multiple email addresses - all that tells me that you may be the
one, the troll who for over a year infested this forum in failed
attempt to destroy regular and respected contributors before starting
to promote your own business. We've seen it before here...

Hi,

I am not sure where all of this negativity is coming from. I assure
you that I have not changed names or used different email addresses.

Nevertheless... the information provided is accurate and correct.

Have a Nice Day!!

It comes exactly from where you moron started it a year ago by using
many of your sockuppets for 12 months in failed attempt to destroy
reputations of Andrew and Jim (remember calling him a failed
immigration officer?).

Now we know who really is a failed government employee, fired for
incompetence if not for more....

Not using different email addresses? Another lie!!!!

What about first and now

And what about all your suckpuppets???????

Pathetic moron...

You tried to destoy this forum, now table turns on you!!!

Hello,

Thanks for responding.

So does that mean that I can travel back to Europe to complete my
assignment while PR Card process is completed? Can I tell that to the
immigration officer while landing?

I am assuming that If I mention that I would be travelling outside
Canada within a week, he would not let me register for the PR Card
during the landing process. To me, it is not very clear why there
should be so many restrictions to travel outside Canada during the
initial period as people might still have committments that they need
to take care of.

Regards,
Ash

Yes, you can. Providing of course that you either arrange for your PR Card
to be forwarded to you by your friend or apply for Travel Document abroad to
facilitate your return to Canada. Also note that there are many reported
instances when new immigrants didn't have their PR Cards mailed due to
technical or other reasons and were asked to come to local CIC office to
pick-up their cards in person.

The matter has been discussed and explained dozens of times in this forum
already since the implementation of PR Cards in June 2002.
