Default Transfer interview from LA to Detroit

Hello,

I had applied for Canadian immigration in skilled category in Oct,01.
A month back, I got a letter informing me that my file is being
transferred from Buffalo to LA and would be informed of the interview
data. I live in Detroit and was hoping that I can have the interview
in Detroit and I could save atleast a thousand dollars on the airfare
for my family to LA. I don't mind waiting for another 6 -12 months, if
its going to delay.

Could someone tell me how to request for the file to be transfered
from LA to Detroit?

Thanks,
Ashok

If Detroit is where you have lived since the day you sent in your
application, then I say the following:

This just goes to show you how utterly inane and inept some of the
people who work in Buffalo are.

Why in the HELL would they not transfer a file to a city where the
applicant LIVES, if that city has an INTERVIEW CENTRE? Why force him
to waste hundreds of dollars, to fly all the way to the west-coast for
a bloody interview?

To me, this clearly goes to show that some people who work for
Canadian Immigration go well out of their way to make some of us
suffer.

(I am, of course, assuming that CIC were fully aware that Ashok lives
in Detroit, or at least has for a considerable amount of time.
Obviously, if you just moved there, and had a different city down with
your original application, then I can't blame CIC for that one)

; )

I'm very sorry to have to hear that you're being screwed around,
Ashok! All the best to you!

Hmm. I had replied to this yesterday, but it got lost somehow.
Perhaps it was "monitored, then deleted!"

Assuming that you have lived in Detroit since the day you sent in your
application, then I am compelled to say this:

The fact that you have to fly to L.A. and waste loads of cash for an
interview, when they should have noted that you LIVE in an interview
city, pretty much spells out the ineptitude and idiocy (not to mention
ignorance and, dare I say, arrogance) of some officers in Buffalo.
There is absolutely NO JUSTIFICATION to have to make you fly ACROSS
THE COUNTRY TO THE WEST COAST for an interview, when you LIVE in an
interview city.

idiots.

However, this is only assuming that you've lived in Detroit for a
considerable period, and CIC knew full-well of your location!

I hope you are able to get this straightened out. What a joke.

Hi ashok

From my personal experience, detroit has very lonfg quee, u have to
wait atleast 15-22 months as compare to LA only 5 months. So i think LA
is a better option for u if u need Immigration very badly otherwise
transfer the case.JUst send them a request to transfer ur file from LA
to detroit.

Yes! Irfan is partially correct on timing....... I attended conference
arranged by Detroit Immigration office..... And come to know from one
the immigration officer...Interview is going on for the people who puts
in the queue in Jan 2003...

Same thing happened to me, when I applied, I mentioned Detroit is my
prefered location, But they put me in Seattle (later they waived my
interview...that is diff story)....

I asked the same question to Detroit officer, she said, though we
mentioned our prefered location, Its their choice to choose the
location, and she mentioned, its depends on the Queue in each
loaction...I believe they put u in LA because LA has less pepole than
DET.

Go LA...its my suggesstion.
