Wishing somebody bad is not nice either
The OP already admitted he made a bad mistake, no need to rub it in. We
all make judgment errors, and to be honest, I rather have someone doing
85 where 55 is the legal limit than some asswhipe doing a DUI. I am
from Europe, and with all due respect, speed limits here are sometimes
beyond paternalistic. 75 Mph is the official limit in my country, and
you'd need to do well over 80mph before you get ticketed. And then I
don't even mention Germany. Speeding can (as I presume in the case of
the OP) be an easy mistake made in the spur of the moment in contrast
to people who make DUI part of their lifestyle.
Check how many people die and get hurt from DUI. Check how many people
die from inattentive drivers at 'safe' speeds. Check how many kids die
because people think 35mph in a dense neighborhood with playing kids is
their God given right, check how many people die because of accidents
from speeding not involving booze or road rage and then come back to
cry me a river on your little soap box.
To the OP: Bad mistake, but for as far as I can see it, it shouldn't be
a problem on your status or future N400, but be prepared for some hefty
increase on your insurance. Drive safely.
