Default TRA Advice

Has anyone else who has completed the TRA form been self employed on a
sub contracting basis? One of the questions asks you to supply
statements from your suppliers but I don't have any as any materials I
used were supplied by the company I worked for. Does it matter if I
don't supply this? I also don't have a business registration
certificate for each period of self employment, will my audited accounts
be sufficient? How much detail do your employers have to go into when
describing your work ie. is hanging a door enough detail? Also 2 of the
companies I worked for are no longer trading so I cannot get references
from them, will this be a problem? Can anyone help please?

Hi Digger

My OH (Plumber) had spells of contractor/self employment etc, if you
want sample of lists etc just send me a PM with your email address and I
will be happy to forward them to you.

Hi my OH has been self-employed for 20years, and he only ever worked as
a sub contractor, he also never had to supply Materials, our agent told
us that we had to state this on a statutory declaration, also had it
stated on our references that all materials were supplied, we passed
our TRA so it worked, what trade are you in ? It sounds like you are a
carpenter ? if you are I have all my cousins paperwork from his
assesment, he has just emigrated !!! My oh is in the Flat Glass Trade (
Double Glazing ) so I have plenty of paperwork etc.
If you need any help PM me and I will send it all through.

Circumstances such as those you are describing are reasons why engaging
a competent advisor should be actively considered.

There is a limit to the reliance you can (and should) place on responses
made on discussion forums by others whose circumstances are most likely
somewhat different to yours.

Best regards.
