Default Timeline Update-Inland

Sent App: June
Recvd: Jun 8
Started Processing: July 7
Finally got call 3 days ago (Jan 15th) that they were sending my AIP
and asking for more documents. They told me they haven't been able to
start the background check yet so I am looking at another 6-8 months.
My own fault for not being able to send all of the documents in at first.
According to the RCMP I have no fingerprints so I am going to have to
go to the states and have them taken by a lazer, hmm......
I am expecting it to come along with the request for medicals any day now,
then
at least I'll have myAIP and will be able to get a work permit and go back
to the states briefly!

Good Luck to All,

Gennee

Congratulations on getting to the AIP stage! I'm still waiting for them to
get to the July 18 applications.

What did they request from you? Were they documents on the Document
Checklist that should have been sent originally, or were they additional
ones?

I know each case is different, but they've already asked me for additional
work history information after I sent them more than they wanted - I'm just
curious about what else you were required to submit, if you don't mind
sharing. Not many inland applicants post specifics here.

Thanks Renee

Well....they want the fingerprints redone and they want me to send them
proof that my first divorce is real..even though I got married in Canada
with permission based on the fact that I proved my 2nd divorce was
real..they wanna know about the one 12 yrs ago...so I had to order proof...

Then they wanted to see more papers regarding child custody...and when they
get the fingerprints they are going to do the RCMP check while I get the FBI
clearance done with the prints as well (last prints were rejected)...seems
the RCMP in my town thinks I have no prints, but I hafta make the effort to
try and have them done again to get these checks done..only places that do
lazer fingerprinting are in the States so..
They are saying this will make it drag out much longer but s'long as I have
my AIP..that helps alot!

The lady I talked to seemed very nice and helpful.
I was just glad to hear from someone!
They called in the evening because I live in a different time zone. Now I
hafta do my MEDs too and try and have my son's done too..it's hard when you
have an ex-spouse who is not so cooperative...then I find out he has to take
the child to ATlanta..and I have been hearing terrible things in here about
the doc in ATlanta, so that makes me nervous too! I need a good Doc from
close to there..
Any one got any ideas??

Keep in touch Renee, looks like we are running close to eachother.

GL,

Gennee

my work history and education in december eventhough i had already send
them more than enough information with my initial application and other
documents.. I guess i havent got an AIP yet but whats an AIP?

AIP: Approval in Principal

Once you get approved in principal you can apply for a work permit...I had
sent in my app June of 2003 so I might be a lil further than you in the
process...they said they were sending the request for medicals along with
my AIP...timelines can vary widely depending on country of origin and
background checks, how many different places the applicant has lived
etc...is probably a bit easier for US citizens like me who haven't moved
around alot since the countries are so close to eachother and cooperative
and all.....

Well, you've got a lot of documents to pull together and some more waiting,
but hang in there. It'll all be worth it once you've had your landing
interview.

It's funny, but I got encouraged by your statement that the lady you spoke
to from CIC was very nice and helpful. I understand your feeling about
being glad to hear from someone. When I first applied, U.S. applicants were
getting their PR in 4-6 months. I've been waiting six months now, and
hopefully will hear something in a month or so. They're almost up to my
application date - yay! In the meantime, I fight being restless quite a
bit.

Sorry I can't help you with medicals in Atlanta. I did mine here in
Calgary.

Best wishes for a shorter wait than you're expecting.

Renee

Renee,

I have seen you volunteer your time to be helpful to others here so often. I
hope they appreciate it. I do.

Yes, the lady I spoke to was very personable and helpful.
She is even going to send me some labels so that when I send in more
documents they will definitely go right to her instead of being at the
bottom of some pile somewhere...
you might want to request the same when they call you!
What part of the states are you coming from?
I'm going to email your addy and send my real addy,
we should keep in touch!

What we won't go through for our Canadian men!!

Best wishes for a shorter wait than you're expecting too!

Gennee

Default Re: Timeline Update-Inland

*smiling* Yes, we're willing to go through a lot for our Canadian men.
They're worth it. I shook my life up completely, but you know, my life
needed a change of scenery anyway. I just got lucky that it included such a
wonderful husband in the process.

You won't get my e-mail out of the one that's on my properties. I used my
real e-mail for the first couple of weeks on Usenet, and I was absolutely
inundated with spam and virus messages. Also with questions from
individuals about immigration issues. While I most certainly don't mind
helping people, I don't have the answers to all the questions, especially
those that weren't inland spouse related. I didn't have time to try and
keep up outside of the group. I had to put a fake e-mail here so my account
was actually usable again. I almost closed it down and started over.

Is the e-mail you have listed one that you actually check, or have you done
the same thing I have? I can send you something to the address in your
properties, and then you can send an alternate address from there if you
like. I'm more than happy to talk to another inland applicant from the U.S.

When we first got engaged, everyone I knew said that he should be moving to
the U.S. for me, since I'm the woman. Forget that. I lived in the
Washington D.C. area for nearly 30 years, and it never felt like home. I
had already been giving some thought to relocating when Chris walked into my
life. Certainly people have different views on different places, but
Calgary has been home for me from the first time I came here (except I left
my favorite NHL team behind, but I have NHL Center Ice for that). I just
need to get CIC to finish their part of it.

I'll wait to see if your e-mail address up here actually gets to you, and
we'll go from there. Thanks for the advice about the labels.

Renee
