Default Timeframe question

My sister-in-law is a US citizen, living in California. Her
husband is a Japanese citizen. living in Tokyo, with plans on moving
to the US. She applied to sponsor him about 6 months ago, and they
think he will be able to immigrate and work within the next couple of
months. Is this a reasonable timeframe. I thought this type of thing
took a couple of years.

For spouses of Permanent Residents it does.

It is reasonable time frame. VISA number is immediately availalbe for
Spouses of US Citizen and are not limited to CAP.

Timeframe all
depends on how much time it take for application to be rpocessed at
Service Center and then at Nataional Visa Center and then sending it to
consulate in country of immigrant(which in your case is Japan).
