Hence the fact that I want to emigrate to the good ol' USA. Anyway, I
am a fully qualified auto mechanic with 11 years experience, however
since 1995 I have been a Police Officer. That is to say I had 11
years experience prior to becoming a cop.
If anyone out there has got any info that may help me, my wife and 2
year old boy get to the US then I would be very grateful. Oh yes I
also have an aunt who lives in Florida. She isn't a US citizen but
was married to one (my uncle who was British but took US citizenship)
who unfortunately died a few years ago.
So if anyone could help or give me info then please get in contact.

Without a degree.. very little chance of getting an employment visa.

your aunt will be no help as family visa only go down to siblings.

Only real possibility for you is to buy a business out here.. Minimum
investment around $100k

Why would you want to leave a prosperous country like the UK to come
to America? Seems like a lot of effort for little gain.

May i suggest you VISIT the US and look around and really decide if you
want to live here first. Don't put down the UK that fast. I was there
earlier this year, and yes UK people don't have as much material goods
as us -- but it's still a very nice and relaxing place to live.



in a nutshell. Most people immigrate via:



1) marraige

2) asylum (cubans, etc.)

3) non-immigrant visas (high tech indian computer programmers, intra-
compnay managers/executives, healthcare, doctors, scientists, etc.).

4) family-based (kinda useless, since it takes 10+ years).

5) live happily being illegal. Like 8 million others here. (grin).

come on David...

UK does have a few good things.........fish and chips....pints of tetley
bitter....and soccer.........things that get folk through the dreary
winters over there.
