"The Hidden city of Myanmar"

In Myanmar, Rakhine state is famous for its Ngapali Beach, Historic port of=
Sittwe and its amazing sites and destinations that mostly are not yet visi=
ted by many. It is in the South-west Myanmar and bordering Bangladesh in th=
e west.

This is where the ancient city of Mrauk U which is normally refer to as the=
hidden city of Myanmar. It is a growing destination for travellers who app=
reciate the natural settings and a semi adventure type of tour.

For going to Mrauk U and many places in Rakhine state, Sittwe is the primar=
y gateway. Many of Rakhine people are muslim and one will find numerous mos=
ques in the city. It also boasts several interesting pagodas and fascinatin=
g monastery on the main street. It is where in those monasteries you will f=
ind collection of Buddha images which of them are copies as well as origina=
ls dating from 15th century at the peak of Mrauk U times. Another highlight=
of Sittwe is the beach that is an ideal place to sit and absorb the sunset.

Mrauk U; a thriving city in 15th to 17th century. This trip is the main hig=
hlight where you will get an insight of the river life and surrounding coun=
tryside. Mrauk U was a successor of two earlier kingdoms in the area: Danya=
wadi( 1st to 6th AD ) and Wethali ( 3rd to 10th AD ), the remains of which =
are still visible in the north of Mrauk U.

Mrauk U is noted for its Fort-like temples and pagodas built of massive sto=
nes. Unlike the temples of Bagan, Mrauk U' ruins are constructed with stone=
in a truely unique style rather than traditional bricks. The most well pre=
served temple in Mrauk U is the Shitthaung built in 1535 AD, by the most po=
werful King of Rakhine kings. The caves, tunnels, passages and Buddha image=
s of the temple are intriguing and some say the construction is similar to =
Borobudur in Indonesia. There are many other temples to visit in Mrauk U as=
well as the ruins of the royal palace and city walls.
