Default Tax question for landed immigrants of Canada

Hello.

We landed Canada earlier this year, but right after the landing, we
had to come back to the States, as my study in a US university hasn't
finished. I plan to graduate earlier next year, and will move to
Canada permanently after that.

So, technically, we are landed immigrants, but we are now living in
the States for the time being. We are making money here, and we pay
U.S. taxes.

My question is that in my current situation, should I report this
income to Canada and pay Canadian taxes too? Or is it okay not to pay
Canadian taxes until I permanently move to Canada and have an income
there? (I remember I read the Canadian taxation is based on residency)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DK

You do not seem to be a tax resident of Canada. Only a qualified
professional can give you fully reliable advice. I am not one of them.
