Student Visa and then marraige OR get married and then Study on H4

Hi

I am in USA since 1.5+ yrs. on H1B Visa.

In my recent trip to India and choose a girl. In future my would-be
wants to do Masters here. She is BE and have given GRE and will be
applying for the univ. in the Dec'07.

Even I feel that she should study and do her masters. But I am
confused when and what to do...

My Question :

1) What will be better Visa to bring her in USA.....does she should be
applying to US Univ. as single and get her Student Visa. And then I
goto India and get marry there acc. to Hindu customs and not doing
register marraige and show her as Single in US.

or

2) We should get marraied asap and then get her name change and get
her H4 and then bring her over here... and then she should apply for
the US Univ.

Please also let me know which will be better in terms of Scholarship,
College Fees and Insurance Benefits. ?

Perhaps you should ask the International Student Advisor at the school she will attend. They probably have a lot more day to day experience and knowledge than your average person. And, it will be specific to that school.

I would suggest you get married first and bring her here on the H4. You're not supposed to use the student visa as a means to bring your girlfriend over to get married and it might not get approved.

Also, if she uses a student visa she will have to prove that she has the funds to cover tuition and living expenses which can be quite expensive. This is done either through her own savings or via a sponsor. She will also have to pay out of state tuition if she goes to a state funded school and that is usually 2-5 times more than instate fees.

I'm not sure the timeline of the h4 but it may take a little longer to bring her over.
