Default spooky fast processing times?

I filed for an I-539 B2 extension about 7 days ago and just got a letter
from the BCIS that:

"the above application or petition, along with any check or other form
of fee payment, is attached. the application or petition cannot be
accepted because the proper fee of $140.00 US is not attached. since the
case is not properly filed, a priority or processing date cannot be
assigned. please attach a check or money order for this amount and
resubmit this entire package to the address listed below. to speed
processing, please leave this notice on top."

okay, they didnt update their website, where it still says $120.00, at
least they gave me another chance to send it in and they were quite
friendly on the phone ..i also got someone within 2 minutes when i
called, weird hm? but anyways, the point is that i received the above
response within 7 days of my filing!! was it assigned to an officer that
fast? or do they do 'pre-screening' and opening the letters, checking
who paid, etc. before it goes to an officer? that was Nebraska, btw.
where it usually takes 5 months

No, it wasn't assigned to an officer. Before they give any cases to the
officers, someone checks, if formally everything is alright. In your
case, it wasn't. As they wrote, your case wasn't even accepted. You have
to send it in again and then waiting time starts.

thank you, thats what i thought ...it was a little faster than i
expected it! i called them to make sure i am allowed to send it in
again and they said yes, even though i am past by authorized stay date
(for a week).

Does anyone know what the average Nebraska processing times are lately?
Some sites say as of November 20th, they are up to October 1st ...some
other sites (including BCIS) says they are processing June 15th right
now. I dont get it.

http://www.immigration.com/processing-times/ne.html says
they're on 06/17/2003.

http://www.bccvisalaw.com/processingnb.php says they're
on 9/10/2003

That is a correct date, even though the report is not the most recent.
USCIS has already posted a report for 11/20/03, whereas this report is dated
11/15/03.

No, it doesn't. For one thing, this site has the 11/1/03 report (old), and
for another, the date you cite is for a "change of status" application, not
an "extension of status" application.

https://egov.immigration.gov/graphic...sp?textFlag=N#, USCIS
itself, says that at the Nebraska Service Center, the date for I-539s for
"all other extension applications" is June 17, 2003. All the attorney's
sites are derivatives of this site.
