Default should a reference letter of work experience be in both native language and Enghlish?

Hi, there:
I have a question on preparing the reference letter on the work
experience.

My native language is not English. I used to work several years for a
company in my home country. I uderstand that I need to ask my previous
supervisor write me a reference letter, what language should be used
(i.e. is required)? Do I HAVE to ask him write the letter in my native
language then have notary agency tanslate it into English?

My supervior knows English pretty well which is enough to write a
reference letter, can I just ask for a letter written in English
directly?

Thanks much for any help on this.

Yes, english will be preferred, in fact. Make sure it explains
everything clearly.

Hi,

thanks for reply. I understand the letter has to be in English. I just
wanted to prepare it in an easier way if I can avoid having a notary
agency translate it from origional language to English.

Could you please clarify your advice that I can just request a letter
written in English from my supervisor directly?

Thanks.
