residency obligation for citizenship
Dear experts,
I am eager to get opinions from you for my citizenship application. To
calculate the residency obligations, I found I made a mistake before.
In fact, I physically resided in Canada for 1088 days in the recent 4
years immediately before I submit my application. To meet the 1095
days, I have to wait for another 1 year because I first left Canada 1
year later after I landed at the first time. But I also got a RRP
(Resident Returning Permit) after I left Canada at the first time. I
got RRP because my wife also got a RRP as a student outside of Canada.
I spent about 4 months to go abroad to visit my wife and my kids every
year, so I didn't use my RRP even once. And both of our RRP expired
last year. Now my wife works abroad because of the bad job market
here, but my kids came back to live with me. In my case, can I count
for a few days that were valid on my RRP but I spent on abroad to
calculate my residency obligations so that I can meet the 1095 days
residency obligation now? Or anybody knows if the officer can still
consider to grant me and my kids citizenship in my case?
Very appreciated for any opinions.
Thanks,
David
