Default Removal of Conditions and holiday

Hi there everyone,

I sent off for my Removal of Conditions based on Residency about a two
months ago, and within a week of sending it off I got a reciept back saying
they have recieved my application and my greencard has been extended for 1
year.

Now my question is this, in May we are going to the UK (My Homeland :-) for
3 weeks, and staying 2 nights in Paris, if I haven't heard anything from the
INS by then, is it still OK to travel using my greencard if I bring along my
letter that my status has been extended? Also, what happens if they request
a meeting WHILE i'm holiday?

Just want to make sure everything goes smoothly, as I haven't visited the UK
for 3 years and we are really looking forward to it :-) Hopefully we'll
hear from them before we go (As it's 6 months) and everything will be ok, I
just want to get as much sorted out now as possible so I don't have to worry
    :-)

Thanks everyone, and goodluck to those just starting out on getting your
Greencard through being married.

Chris

Yes, the NOA explicitly extends authorization to travel and work so the GC
plus the NOA is good enough. Some people have persuaded their USCIS office
to give them an I-551 stamp in their passport but most offices refuse to do
that for the good reason that the letter is good enough. Some people have
reported having hassles from the airlines but I have never seen it reported
for airports in the UK.

Don't worry about them scheduling an interview while you are away. The
chances of getting an interview are slim so the chances of that happening
are very small. And, if they do, they do and you reschedule it.

Have a great trip!

Andy.
