OOOOOOOOOH I won't
forget that!!! My fiance tried on some tuxedos last night. :D

I think I
have the answer but I could be wrong. Just did some research on it and
apparently I need a SSN# and that is all :)

ws,

Might depend on what the particular bank wants you to have. For a
non-interest-bearing account maybe nothing, since there will be no
earnings to report to the IRS. More likely, though, they will require
either a SSN or an ITIN. For an interest-bearing account you will
definitely require either a SSN or an ITIN since there may be earnings
to report.

There's no reason why you should have to be married to have
an account in your own name.

Regards, JEff

I opened a checking and a
savings account at the Bank of America without a SS#. I did let them
know my SS# as soon as I got one though.

My husband opened a band account before we even had our K-1. He just wanted
to have a way to spend money in the U.S. when he visited without exchanging
Canadian dollars. I was suprised that you don't need a SSN or anything -
but we couldn't open a joint account, since he didn't have a SSN. This was
a basic checking account at Bank of America. This was 3 years ago, but I
don't imagine it has changed much.
