Hello All,

My wife and I are new to this forum, but it looks like some excellent advice
on here.
We are looking for some advice regarding an independent skilled migration to
Aus.

Currently I have a successful skills assessment from ACS in Group A for my
job group.
Following us receiving that in the post and beginning to fill out the main
application we have noticed that we are now short by 5 points, so now my
wife is getting her skills assessment done via VETASSESS. She has all the
qualifications required for the group so fingers crossed that there are no
problems.

What we would like to know is the following:

1) How long does the main application take before getting a decision.
- Is this dependent on the area we are aiming to relocate to
(Brisbane) ?

2) Is there any benefit in doing the main application through an agent as
opposed to DIY which we have done for skills assessments.

3) I have noticed the questions on the main application asking for how much
money you intend to take into Australia. Is the answer to this question
important in whether you get accepted or not?


Apart from the above can anyone give us any other advice before we submit
the main application?
