Default Question for Rete: Contacting a Congressman in NYC

Rete:

It's been 25 months now since my I-485 application in NYC and my wife
and I are thinking of contacting a congressman to pursue an enquiry.
What's the best way to do this? Does it get results?

My husband and I have an appointment with our congressman staff this
Friday for them to inquire about our application with BCIS. We had our
interview in May 2004 and were told to wait for security background
check..it's been over four months now.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Find your political representative, House or Senate, by going to
http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/

Once you have found the person who represents your district look for
their website. Quite often they will have a section dedicated to
immigration. On that section they will tell you how to proceed to
contact them.

For us, we choose a member of the House of Representative from our
District. Her staff worked well for us and achieved the goal in
record time.

backlogged with immigration issues, he said that I have waited way
too long to contact him!!

Call the district office, not the DC one, and ask for the constituent
service rep, or immediately say that you're having trouble with a
federal agency.

Some Congress-Critters aren't as up-to-date on the tech as others.
If you emailed to the the Representative's email address, it maybe
have been machine-filtered into an inbox that's wrong; they get
*lots* of email.
