Default question relating to visa

I have heard that once my visa for Australia is granted I can
live in New Zealand also? Is this true?

Doubt it very much! You can move alot easier between the two but its
not automatic.

From what I understand Australian PRs and citizens can live and work in
New Zealand also. However, if you have only got PR status in Australia
and do live in New Zealand once your 5 year visa sticker expires you may
face a problem getting a return resident visa as you have not
established strong ties to Australia. If you wish to live in New
Zealand, then I would recommend you either get PR for NZ or get your
Australian citizenship first.

We actually were thinking of retiring in New Zealand once the kids are
finished school here.
