question, police check

1. Is it true that when applying for a Australia visa you have to get a
police check done yourself? i am from Ireland, how would I go about getting
this done?

2.Is this the same for New Zealand?

3. Is this true for student summer work visa for australia or new zealand.

Whether you need to do a police check depends on the type of visa you
are applying for.

No such thing (to begin with the northern summer is the southern winter
... ). Do you mean a working holiday visa?
Normally you don't need a police check to get an Australian WHV.
