Default Question on Designated area sponsored provisonal

We are now processing the visa requirements. All the necessary
documents are with us already; forms are already downloaded including
new forms and guidelines. But we have trouble in filling up the form
47ST(Application for a two stage Skilled designated Area Sponsored
Visa) It stated in page 2:

Who is covered in this form?

The applicant form covers a family unit, that is a primary
applicant and, if applicable, spouse and dependants.

If you have a spouse, consider which of you is more likely to
meet visa requirements before completing the form. That person
should be the primary applicant and complete Part B
Applicant details.

If you are applying for one of the sponsored categories, the
family member who is being sponsored must complete
Part B and H as the primary applicant.

My wife and I are planning to down under. Considering I have the aunt
in Vic and planning to go to the route of designated area sponsored.
And my wife already has her favorable skill assessment from vetasses as
a Chemist and already has a IELTS result of band 7.
Questions:
1. Who will be the primary applicant that will complete Part B and H?
On the 2nd paragraph it stated there that it will be Yeng. Considering
my wife was the who obtained a favorable skill assessment and the
passed the IELTS exam. But for the 3rd part it is stating there that I
should be be the one because I am the one who has a relative living in
Australia. The third part doest makes sense considering that this form
is specifically made for Application for a two stage Skilled designated
Area Sponsored Visa and has sponsorship.

2. On page 6 of this form

If you are applying from outside Australia:
What is the value of money, goods and assets which you( and your
spouse) intend to bring to Australia?

How much are we going to flag for this? is there a minimum requirement
for this one?

hope you can help us.

many thanks.

Mat

Hi Mat, we ourselves only 3-wks ago submitted our visa application under
the same visa subclass. Your questions seem very similar to the same
questions we had a few months ago and indeed we also hope, pray and
fingers crossed will also migrate to Vic (Melbourne) during next year.

Qu1.. My wife (Sarah) passed the vetassess under Hotel & Catering
Management, as her post secondary education was better than mine,
however I'm the one with 2 cousins living in Melbourne for over 20 yrs..

In this instance after liasing with a few migration agents we were
informed that it has to be the person who passed the skills assessment
which has to be the main applicant and the sponsor can be either the
applicant or the applicants spouse relative, i.e. it doesn't matter who
is related to the sponsor.. Details of this info can be found under
www.immi.gov.au

This is different from the previous visa subclass 139 which was replaced
on the 1st July to the new 2 stage process.

I hope this helps, as also struggled with this point, but it does make
sense after you start completing the form..

Qu2... This question relates to how much you believe you can bring to Oz
and importantly I guess to support yourself.. Consider house value after
deducting any mortgage, cars, savings and enter a figure which you feel
you could bring with you.. There's no minimum as far as I know, but
obviously with no support through medicare, welfare etc during the
provisional period I assume it looks good if you are able to support you
and your family...

Good luck, please feel free to ask us any questions and we will try
to explain what we have done after preparing our application since
late May...

Cheers
Russ & Sarah

Default Re: Question on Designated area sponsored provisonal

Hi, had the same question about the primary applicant - asked the Aus
immigration people and was told that it is the SKILLED person who is
the primary applicant not the family member. The sponsor can be either
the primary applicant or the spouses blood relative.

Hope this answers part of it.

A fairly recent amendment was brought in to effectively require the
person claiming the points to be the main applicant, with either the
main applicant or the spouse then having a suitable relative as sponsor.

Prior to 1 Oct 2006, the main applicant had to be the one with the
relative, even if the secondary (spouse) applicant was the one providing
the points.
