question about waiting for immigration letter

Hi,
I am sponsoring my wife in China. On Internet I see there is a message in
PERMANENT APPLICATION..It said they (assume H.K Visa office) send a letter
to my wife in Guangzhou, China on Dec 18, 203..It's now one month and she
still didn't receive the letter..It should have took max a week...Should I
fax a letter to immigration and ask them to resend it?? Also give them the
address to make sure they got it righ? or should I wait until end of Jan?

Also, once receive letter..How long they usually give the time frame
before have to return it back?

What often seems to happen is that the visa official makes a note in the
data base of what he/she wants done. It can then take a few weeks or more
before it happens, especially over the holiday period. I only hopoe that
the Chinese New Year celebration does not add further ot this delay in your
case.
