When we did ours, we had typed and handwritten, i.e. handwritten on the
actual form and the continued in typing on the extra pages.

You cannot give too much detail, our application was 67 pages long
Took us months to do it!

Hubby is a carpenter and joiner

That 67 pages does include all his references, city & guilds
certificates etc etc

No doubt you already know this but when you do your list of duties,
like job description you have to do it in a step by step detail. My
husband found it absolutely infuriating, he kept saying this is
ridiculous - after much nagging I got him to do it, he said he felt a
right pratt putting it in such minor detail but I didn't care as long
as we passed

Fab advice

Sometimes the TRA can seem so scary, when it comes down to it it's just
dotting the i's and crossing the t's As long as you cover what you do
and back it up with references you should be ok. Like I say though, more
detail the better - less chance of failing

The way we looked at it in the end was that even if we failed we could
just resubmit - especially as we hadn't used an agent we could have
afforded to submit it twice if needs be. Luckily we didn't though
