Default PR Visiting US?

Hi,
I am a permanent resident I am planning to visit US in December (I need visa
to visit US). In the past I have worked in US on H1-B. Currently I am
working as independent software developer for a US based company form
Canada(self employed). Will I have problem getting visa(yes million $
question). I want to know if anybody in the same situation and applied for
visa? Purpose of my visit is strictly visit my relatives.

Thanks

Tim

It depends. If you just landed then you may forget it. But if you are
already in Canada for more than 6 months and can provide evidence of
substantial ties here then you shouldn't have problems. Being self-employed
working for US company will likely cause some problems, especially if you
don't have any ties to Canada.

Thanks Mr. Miller,
Well regarding the ties to Canada, I own a house in Canada, my wife works in
Canada and my son goes to school in Canada, I think that may be enough, But
only thing is I do not want to apply for visitor visa and get rejected(then
it might become a black mark on my records)
Or in this situation applying for a business class visa will be any
easier(My purpose of visit is visiting relatives for this time, my work
really do not need me present in US)
Thanks again,
Tim

In such case you shouldn't have problems. B1 or B2 - same difficulty when
proving ties, but B1 (business) much tougher to get when self-employed.

I donot agree. I have received US visa just after I landed. And I worked in
US on H1 Visa as well. It depends on the personal situation.

There are always exceptions from the rule - your case was one of such rare
exceptions.
