PR Application lost in the registered post !
Hi,
I am now in a seriously bad position.
I Registered Posted a PR application+assessment, other documents
through Australia Post on 17th March to DIMIA.
When I inquired Australia Post, they said they have actually
lost the track of the "Registered Letter" and can not locate
where it is now. They are currently doing an investigation,
but they are unable to find it.
This PR application belongs to a friend of mine who is in
overseas. She must send her PR application to DIMIA
before 01/04/2004 to meet the transitional arrangements, as
she studied only one year here.
(Since she has already left Australia, I sent her application
from Australia on her behalf.)
If she lodges another PR application, it will pass the deadline
of 01/04/2004. I called ASPC today, but unfortunately, they said
they cannot make any special consideration for this.
Is there any way I/she can get out of this ?
Your comments are highly appreciated
thanks
Ranga

Re: PR Application lost in the registered post !
Dear Ranga,
First, don't panic, it might turn up.
Second, this is the kind of problem which arises when people decide to use
friends rather than agents. We are only using top flight courier services
at the moment because there is no alternative if you miss the 1 April
deadline.
Cheers
George Lombard

Re: PR Application lost in the registered post !
Hi George and Psi,
Phew ! At last AustPost had found the letter and delivered
to DIMIA, Adeliade today ! big relief ! You were correct, George.
Psi,
Students who studied only 1 year in Australia and who
started their course before 31/03/2003 can claim "5"
points for Australian Qualification only if they lodge
their PR application (For onshore, GSTV) before 1/4/2004.
Regards
Ranga

Re: PR Application lost in the registered post !
That's correct.
The change in rules affects offshore applicants who have previously
studied in Australia too (for the 5 points).
