Default Police vs NBI clearance from Manila for foreigner

Hi Friends,

I am a non-Filipino living and working in Manila for last 19 months.
Application received by DIMIA 13 April 04 (before score increase),
received my PCC/Med request on 3rd Jan 05. Non-MODL case.

The document says that I need "Police Clearance" and the agency to
contact is NBI (National Bureau of Investigations). When I contacted
NBI, they say that they do not provide police clearance and they can
only provide NBI clearance. I am confused. What does the ASPC want?

I am told that under the procedures, NBI clearance is for nationwide
clearance, whereas Police clearance is for "the relevant local
district/city only". IN these circumstances, could any one advise what
to do?

Should I obtain an NBI clearance and submit that - the risk is that it
is not a "police clearance". OR get a "Police clearance" and submit
that and run the risk that it is not issued from NBI which is mentioned
in the document issued by immi.gov.au.
Any advise is appreciated. Thanks and regards.

Sam.

Hi Sam,

Have a look at form 47p on the DIMIA website
(http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/47p.pdf) - it contains details of
how to obtain police clearances for each country. For the Philippines,
it says that DIMIA want the NBI clearance.

Oops, just re-read your post. It sounds like you've already seen the
form!

Personally, I would think the NBI clearance would be the correct one,
but hopefully someone else can confirm!

You MUST provide an NBI clearance and it MUST be endorsed - for Travel
to Australia.

If DIMIA says NBI is the agency to contact - then NBI is the agency they
want clearance from!!! So it's an NBI clearance - that's whom they
specified!

Why complicate things for yourself by 'reading into' DIMIA documents
meanings other than those conveyed in plain English within the documents??
