Re: Police clearance certificate question
for Canadian Police Certificate, you need to send fingerprints to RCMP in
Ottawa. Find info on that at www.rcmp.ca and for Indian, you have to apply
at Ottawa consulate for Govt of India. You will be surprised RCMP will take
3 times longer to get.

Re: Police clearance certificate question
PCC from India.
You might get an assessment soon.. Applying for PCC from India can be
a pain…, I'd recommend you do this ASAP.
They check to see if there is a criminal record on your name. If they
don't
find one, they will issue a no record (PCC) certificate.
From what I researched, … there are 3 ways to get it.
1. Police Commissioner office, administrative branch at one of the Big
cities in India. You can get this in 2-3 days.
2. Apply at the passport office where your passport was issued (in
India).
There is a form called "misc" for this. Issued in 2-3 days.
3. Apply at an Indian embassy. There is "Misc form". If you are in
Canada you might want to apply at a consulate near to where you are.
http://chicago.indianconsulate.com/miscch.pdf
pay 40.00$, and they issue it in 3-8 weeks. This is what I did. The
only problem here is it takes time, and they will keep the passport
till the PCC is issued.
If you are in/visiting India 1 or 2 might work for you, if not try
asking a friend/relative and see if they can get it for you. It dint
work for me.

Re: Police clearance certificate question
I got my RCMP police clearance in 5 mins.
And 10 minutes to take fingerprints at Police HQ.
Why are you talking about so long time??

All you got was a name check, which is not good enough. You need a
fingerprint check.

Re: Police clearance certificate question
Thank you for answer PMM
You mean I need to go again and tell them to do fingerprint check...??
I never have any problems with a law here in Canada and home country too.
But I showed them letter from application kit.....
I didn't sent application yet, and I want to send application with RCMP
security check....

Re: Police clearance certificate question
Hello,
Thank you both for the information about PCC.
Will the processing of my application stop if I have not submitted my PCC
earlier? Will I still get an assessment about my application in the
meanwhile?
When I called Immigration Canada's call centre I was told not to submit the
PCC until asked so I did not submit it at the time of application.
I am visiting India for a couple of weeks so my best bet seems to be getting
it from there. Will I be given the PCC in India or will it be mailed
directly to Canadian Embassy in Buffalo?
Thanks again for all your help. Very kind of you.

Re: Police clearance certificate question
After the initial assessment, (if the interview is wavered), they will
ask for additional documents (PCC could be one of the documents), and
ask you to proceed for medicals. They generally give 60 days for
Medicals and 90 days for submitting additional documents.
I am not sure if number of days they give is the standard
process/law/procedure, it is just what I have been given. Also there
have been cases were PCC was never asked. But dont count on it...
Your best bet would be to try the Passport office in India, since they
are generally more aware of the immigration stuff than the Police.
When you apply at the passport office, they will check with the local
police station to see if you have a criminal record. This should not
take more than a few days, just be persistent.

Re: Police clearance certificate question
Thank you so much for the information.
How much time does it usually/approximately take for them to contact us back
after they have completed the initial assessment? I know everyone has a
different time frame but am just anxious to know, if possible, from your
experience.
I read on Buffalo site that they are assessing applications of November
2002. My file number was created in October 2002 so I believe they have
already assessed my application.
Thanks a bunch again.

Re: Police clearance certificate question
File creation is different from initial assessment. I think they
generally send AOR after the file is created (just a guess).
My Timeline
Applied April 2002 (independent skilled worker at Buffalo)
AOR Nov 2002
E-client status changed to: In Process: Aug 2003 (states, we started
processing your application in Nov 2002)
Initial Assessment: Nov 2003 (Interview wavier)
Medicals: Dec 2003
