Default Permanent Resident Card Question for Landed Residents prior to 2001

Hi,

I have my appointment scheduled for Tuesday March 9th to pick up my
Permanent Resident card, I was wondering if anyone knows if they take
your IM1000 that is stapled in your passport? Also, can you tell me
what else they do other than give you your PR card?

Thanks in advance,

Meg

No, your IMM 1000 will only be stamped with "Invalid" and you may keep it.
After verification of your identity you will be given your PR Card, that is
all.

Thanks Andrew,

They sure don't give very much notice to pick up your paperwork. I got
my letter on Friday March 5th and my appointment to pick it up in
Ottawa is for Tuesday March 9th at 2:45pm. I really thought they would
give a person more time. I realize you have 180 days to pick it up,
but they ought to give a little more notice than a few days.

Just a comment.

Meg
